Mission and Pizza
Several times during the year, missioners gather at the USCMA national office in Washington, DC to share pizza and fellowship while listening to a presentation on a timely mission topic.
A NEIGHBORHOOD CONVERSATION
Mission and Pizza is a lunchtime gathering of people in the Washington, DC area who are interested in mission.
This gathering is usually made up of lay missioners preparing for mission, returned missioners, people who work for mission and/or peace and justice organizations and others interested in a particular topic.
A presentation by a speaker or speakers is followed by questions and discussion, and the meeting concludes with local announcements of activities of organizations in the area.
Occasionally, the presentations by speakers are edited and printed in the quarterly Periodic Paper.
Future Mission and Pizzas:
USCMA will move to its new offices at the Hecker Center, Washington, DC in February 2007. We are hopeful that we will once again host these lunchtime conversations.
Past Mission and Pizzas:
We have enjoyed a variety of speakers and topics in our Mission and Pizza series. Some of these include: Wen xi Zhang and Chao Peng Gao, both priests from China studying at Catholic University of America on new developments in the Church in China; Sr. Connie Gemme, MSOLA talking about her work in Ghana to educate people about Trafficking; Rev. Joseph Zhand Wenxi on "The Church in China Today"; Rev. Victor Bongiovanni about his work with child soldiers in Sierra Leone; and a panel discussing the situation in Venezuela.
