Short-Term Mission
One of the latest and most popular trends in mission activity, short term mission, is currently receiving a good deal of attention. Areas of mission that fall into this category are: Immersion Experiences, Service-Learning, medical missions and exchange visits with partners in twinning projects.
From Mission to Mission has published a new book "What About Short-Term Mission?", a practical guide for leaders and participants of short-term mission experiences. This book will help with preparation and reflection throughout the experience.
An earlier short reflection booklet, "Remaining Faithful," was published by From Mission to Mission to be used following a short-term experience in another culture. This is an excellent resource for those who have been impacted by cross-cultural experiences. It is designed to be used for a year-long reflection process following one's return to the home culture.
Both of these publications can be ordered from From Mission to Mission.
A recent publication (2005) is available from the Cincinnati Archdiocesan Mission Office, "Learning Through Service: a Guide to Immersion Trips and Extended Service Projects for Youth." While this guide is designed to help youth leaders in the Archdiocesan high schools and parishes it has valuable information for all leaders of short-term trips with youth.
More information on Short-Term Mission is available in the Mission Ideas & Trends section of this site.
